March 2023

Dear Hogar de Esperanza supporter!

Analuz, A Story of Redemption and Love

Yes, that’s how we’d consider the moving story of Analuz that came to a happy ending early on in March as Analuz united to a forever family for the second time!

Back in June of 2022 Analuz’s first adoption opportunity in Peru was finalized! Since we are not legally in charge of doing all the paperwork initiating and following up adoptions (we are literally a home to take care of judicialized children in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in hope of turning them into His faithful followers), when the prepping process was completed, the state told us her mom was coming to take her home. We celebrated this with mixed emotions.

Sadly, less than a month later, the authorities ask that we receive Analuz back, declaring that the process wasn’t really finalized and that her adoptive mom was backing out. Again, we had stronger mixed emotions, but now in reverse. How would Analuz face this new challenge? Would she question whether she’d ever be loved and accepted? Since she is a preteen, we had questions in our minds and hearts about her state of being. We encouraged our staff to monitor her, love her, and guide her. To our delight, Analuz immediately picked up where she left off and got even more involved with church activities and school. We were committed to prayer, asking the Lord to give her a second chance for a permanent home!

That second chance came in less than 12 months! This time we learned a little more about her new family, who were strong, committed believers in the Lord Jesus. With that knowledge we prayed and prayed, and things were completed in early March. We praise the Lord for moving hearts of believers to follow the redemptive example of Christ by adopting these precious souls He so dearly loves! Thank you for accompanying us in this redemptive story through your loving prayer and generous giving.

(We prayed for Analuz before the congregation, many wept and said their goodbyes... now Analuz is thriving with her new family!)

Unscathed during Flooding and Rains in Northern Peru

All the northern cost of Peru continues to struggle with the sequel of cyclone Yaku that brought heavy rains and flooded most cities and towns from Lima north. By God’s grace our facility and all the children were not affected. Instead, the well that supplies permanent water to our facility helped supply water to the needy adjacent community when the city water supply was severed due to damages to the water treatment center. Time after time, in times where our city has been heavily affected, Hogar de Esperanza has stepped up to share the Lord’s blessings and provision with those in greater need.

(People gather outside the orphanage facility to get water from a spigot we made available for them there and carry to their homes. We dusted up our water containers and filled them with water to carry them to many needed areas in the city)

Back to School

Although the school year was pushed back a couple of weeks due to flooding and rains, our children finally began school this week. We are thankful for the extra two weeks we had to get all children ready with their specific gear and appropriate school supplies. This costly effort depends on finding economical ways to get things done.

(our kids loved wearing their new shoes and school uniforms... hope they last them at least till the end of the first semester. This was Dani's--white and blue, first year attending school. We are so amazed at his progress. Because of his severe pulmonary fibrosis, doctors didn't think he'd live this long. To God be the glory)

Thank you again for your loving prayers and support.

Till next time, in Him!
