Van Essen, Matthew & Sarah

The Lord has called us to the work at Immanuel Mission in the Four Corners area of Arizona.  Immanuel Mission serves the Tolikan (Sweetwater) Chapter of the Navajo Nation by providing K-8 Christian education, community gospel outreach, and Bible studies.  Immanuel Navajo Chapel is located on campus.  

Matt teaches 3rd and 4th grade at the school and shares in preaching and teaching at the chapel.  Sarah helps Matt by teaching 4th grade math and helping with reading groups.  She also keeps plenty busy homeschooling our high school age kids and mentoring through one-on-one Bible study.  The classroom provides a wonderful setting for sharing the gospel, teaching the Bible, and developing long term relationships with students and their families. We both have a heart to make disciples with the following verse in view:  "Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone will all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ." (Colossians 1:28)
