About Us

I was born and raised as an MK in Durban, South Africa. My dad began teaching the missions course at Emmaus Bible College in 1977, my first year as a student there. In 1980, Sharon came to Emmaus from Cupertino, CA, where we met. We were married in 1982, after we both finished college. In 1984, we were commended to Lima, Perú, where we served until the Lord moved us to Bogotá, Colombia in 1992. There, we developed an evening Emmaus Bible School to serve new believers in the multiplying Assemblies, and train leaders. Additionally, we were involved in church planting and conference work. We had used Emmaus Correspondence Courses throughout our ministry years. In 2003, I was appointed as the International Coordinator, responsible for connecting the Emmaus work in over 100 countries with the home office. That was done on a part-time basis from Colombia until we moved to headquarters in Dubuque, Iowa, in 2008, when Rosana and Samuel entered Emmaus and Christina High School. We traveled the world from Dubuque to visit the +100 Emmaus country schools for the next 16 years, returning to Colombia at least once a year as well to continue our ministries there as well. In 2024, I trained my replacement when CMML invited us to join the growing Missionary Care Team. Since June 2024, we have been commended to this new ministry. We focus on the CMML missionaries in Latin America, the Caribbean, Germany, Poland, and some of our Cross-Cultural workers in the USA. The bulk of this is communicating through phone, zoom, WhatsApp etc., plus periodic personal visits to them in their countries. Our goal is to encourage, support, improve communication with their commending Assemblies, and let them know that we at CMML are here to help them thrive as much as we can.

We have four children, two daughters-in-law, and nine grandchildren.
