Update 3/3/2022

"He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. " Deut. 10:18

Dear friends and prayer warriors,

We have been trying to give the Gospel to the refugees, but the language barrier makes it so difficult. John went to the Siret- Suceava border yesterday. He said that the situation is more difficult than we see on the news. Most people speak either Russian or Ukrainian. Very few people speak Romanian or English. He met with a brother who is the director of a mission organization that sends Romanian missionaries to difficult areas where they can spread the Gospel. They opened their headquarters in Suceava for the refugees. Many come and go, and others come in to stay one or two nights; there is always something to do and not enough volunteers.

With the help of a brother who speaks Ukrainian, John was able to read the verses from Deut. 10:18 and pray with a lady who wants to go to America with her two children. We've learned from Daniel Eakins, our son in law, that the American embassy is booked with appointments until August. This means she'll have to wait six months before she can try to get her visa for the States where she has friends.

John was impressed with the unity of love and compassion of the different denominations present at the border. There were orthodox priests and monks dressed in their black robes offering comfort and a place to sleep at their church or monastery. There were brethren, pentecostals, baptists and others showing love and compassion to the refugees.

Meanwhile refugees keep coming through the borders. We were expecting 12 to arrive last night or this morning at the Hosanna Foundation, but we lost contact with them. They were driving in their own cars.We are praying all is well.

The needs in the Republic of Moldova are greater as the number of refugees is twice larger than in Romania. We keep getting calls and requests for relief funds for food and utilities. The washers and dryers run all day long in the afterschool facilities of the North of Moldova.

Many thanks to all of you who have been praying and thanks to those who lovingly sent money to CMML for the Ukrainian relief fund! May the Lord bless you all!

With love in Christ,

John and Mariana Dobrovat
