The Lord’s call became clear to both of us, when He showed us thru scripture, circumstances and several different events, what HE wanted us to do. In regards to circumstances and events, It all started in 2005, when Ken Engle (Karen's dad) had a desire to reconnect with the saints of the assemblies he helped to establish during his 30 years of service in the Philippines. Karen & I accompanied him and it was then when I fell in love with the Filipino people. After that the Lord instilled in me a desire to serve there as a missionary. About a year later the Lord gave Karen the same desire. After our second trip in 2007, we approached the elders in regards to our call to serve in the Philippines. And they have been with us, in prayer, in counsel and encouragement, from the very beginning. When we visited the Philippines again in 2008, it was there that the Lord showed us a small island in the Visayan Sea, on which we found little evidence of the Gospel. We believe that the LORD wants us to establish a pioneer work on that island. This would include child evangelism, community outreach, evangelistic Bible studies, followed by discipleship training. Lately the Lord has been showing us Acts 26:17-18, were the Lord Jesus is saying “…I am sending you, to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.”
